Happy Guy Fawkes everyone! For those who don't know, Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Bonfire Night is an annual commemoration observed on 5th November. Bonfire Night commemorates the events of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605 when a small group of Catholic plotters threatened to change the course of history. They planned to blow up the Houses of Parliament but the plan failed, and when the conspirators were betrayed. One of them, Guy Fawkes, was taken into custody the evening before the attack and unfortunately, Guy Fawkes was convicted and declared to be executed. Guy Fawkes did not make it to his execution as he sadly lost his life falling from the scaffold where he was to be hanged and broke his neck. The other conspirators were all either killed resisting capture or tried, convicted, and executed. In the aftermath, Parliament declared November 5th a national day of thanksgiving, and the first celebration of it took place in 1606.As a celebration of Guy Fawkes and Bonfire Night, we have created a word search for you all to complete which you can find below and it consists of 10 words that relate to Guy Fawkes.
